Demons like Barricade are why the dark element has such a bad reputation. Most dark type demons are noble and dedicate their lives to protecting others. It only takes a few really horrible individuals to ruin a groups reputation. All demons that naturally specialize in shape shifting (I call this category of demons, shifts) have at least one goal or cause. Because one too many light demons have tried to kill barricade, his only drive in life is to kill other demons. Anything else might be killed because they are tasty.

Actually, most demons hate shifts in general. This is mostly because a shift doesn't have as solid a connection with their physical bodies. Most have clear memories of the nothingness before their existence (they call this location/state of being the 'shadow dream'). Because of this connection with not existing (and lack of connection with the physical world) a shift is nearly impossible to kill. If you kill their physical bodies their spirits return to the shadow dream where they become dormant until their purpose is remembered. This cause inspires them to return and fight the good fight (whatever that is). The amount of time a shift is dead (technically they are at that point of time) varies every time. The shortest time returning being a year and the longest being never. Because it is a hard to kill a shift and the fact that sooner or later they will come back, the traditional method of "killing" them is by trapping their souls in an inanimate object.

For those that can sense energy, or see visions (prophesy) shifts have very strong auras that give their true identities away. Not only that, the aura also reflect the demons personality.

More Specifics on Barricade
Deep down Barricade is obsessive. If his focus is on a specific individual, he can be a mellow pleasant guy and will do as he is told. The main issue with interacting with barricade is his quick temper and paranoid rages. For some reason, Barricade hates other shifts most of all. Nothing will stand between him and taking down another shift. It doesn’t take much to make him believe that you are an obstacle for his ally that needs to be destroyed. Convincing Barricade that you are his ally is practically impossible due to his rampant paranoia. The only reason his current ally was able to do it was because of a reckless chance the ally took to convince him.

Current info
At the current time in my comic world, Barricade is separated from his ally and has very specific instructions. Stay in your dog form and "try" not to kill anybody. If you slip up and kill someone, go somewhere else and start over. Barricade currently has a mental link with his ally and can use this to communicate over distances undetected. His ally is a secret and a big part of the comic's storyline, thus I am not going to tell you who he/she/it is.
