del size comparison 1

note: for the purposes of this image I magically made Path a young adult again so she would be a similar age and size to the others for a good comparison.

Gale is an average size, this is the default size of a (young) adult.

Path is an example of a del that is not only healthy, but since she was able to kill and eat more prey, she is much larger than her 2 kin in this image. She is also a "sweep" type of Del. This classification is referring to her overall body shape. A sweep type of del is shaped the way they are because they attack by lashing out with their bodies along the ground(mostly tail and neck). It is a sweeping motion and is a bash/trip attack in one.

Butterfly is an example of a sickly del that barely survived the trials to become an adult. He also has a genetic defect that is made apparent by his abnormal mask shape(The side of the mask on both sides should always be 2 separate points. His is a flat edge).

Random fact: I did not shrink this, this is how big it was while I worked on it... I tend to prefer working larger and shrinking in the end. It makes for a sharper looking picture.

I am so angry right now. Right after I got the linework on butterfly done(note its higher degree of detail that the others) I began working on Gale. Not only did I have to resketch him several times, I encountered 2 big problems

1. My tablet refused to let me draw a clean slightly curving strait line ever again

2. I never got his mask to look right at all

...and to top things off, path had the same problems... and her neck is not long enough

Long story short, the tablet was being bitchy and thus I was frustrated and angry once done with the linework... thus colored everything quick as possible. Ugh, it looks like the type of shading that drives me crazy. (flat cel-shading) Since the picture was not turning out right at all and nothing was going right after butterfly was finished, I decided to finish this as fast as possible and get it done and over with.

I WAS going to do a nice huge rant on how Del widely vary be it size. shape, and mask structure. I'm no longer in a "happy spend an hour dataranting" kind of mood. It will be done another time(though you do get a minirant + bitching). *goes to bed*
